Jacqueline Marie Routledge
Routledge, Jacqueline Marie (nee Choiniere). Unexpectedly but peacefully, with her family by her side on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Kingston General Hospital, aged 87. Daughter of Eileen and Wilfred Choiniere of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Predeceased by her husband, Stewart Routledge. Lovingly and forever remembered by her children Marie Routledge (Jeff Blackstock), Cathy McCann, Janet Wong (Joe), and Pat Routledge (Kim). A cherished Nana to Jill, Jason, Scott, Aaron, Davis and Jane, also to Travis and Curtis McCann.
Jacquie was a prairie girl who ventured to Vancouver to train as a nurse at St. Paul's Hospital. Nursing was a vocation with which she identified her entire life. She met and married Stewart and new journeys were intermingled with her commitment to raising their family. Living mainly in Vancouver and Ottawa, Jacquie also enjoyed years in Toronto, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Prince Rupert, B.C. Her late years on her own were shaped by a new found spirit of independence that lastly brought her to Kingston. Baker of a great lemon meringue pie, always stylish, and endowed with sparkling blue eyes, Jacquie endeared herself to family and friends with her wit and caring ways. She will be greatly missed by the Routledge clan and friends - from coast to coast.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations, in Jacquie's memory, may be made to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation - KGH Nursing Program Education Fund (www.uhkf.ca). Arrangements entrusted to Robert J. Reid & Sons. Sharing Memories online guestbook available at www.reidfuneralhome.com.
