<div itemprop="description">Parker, Dr. John O &ldquo;Jack&rdquo;<br />Peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday February 3, 2015 at Kingston General Hospital at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Evelyn Parker (Clelland, Campbell). Predeceased by his first wife Enid Parker (Johnson) and his sister Rosemary Newman. Loving father of Susan, John (Andrea), Kathryn (Gilles), Andrew (Lisa) and step father of Jamie Campbell (Kathleen). Cherished Grandpa of Laura, Julia, Larissa, Jennifer, Caroline, Samantha, Jonathan, Ben, Sydney and Grace. Jack will also be sadly missed by his many friends and colleagues.<br />John O Parker committed his entire professional life to Queen&rsquo;s University and Kingston General Hospital, a relationship that spanned nearly 60 years. After completing his MD in 1954, he undertook initial training at Queens, with further training in New York, Paris, Milan and London. After returning to Kingston in 1961, he established a cardiovascular clinical care and research program that was widely recognized for excellence. He played a key role in the establishment of clinical services that are now routine, including cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery and critical care units for patients with cardiac disease. His research program had a global reputation; he travelled extensively to present his findings and collaborate with other scientists. Concurrently, he trained multiple young physicians who were to become leaders in cardiovascular clinical care and research. In cardiovascular medicine John O Parker is a Canadian legend. The family will receive friends at the Robert J. Reid &amp; Sons, &ldquo;The Chapel on the Corner&rdquo;, 309 Johnson Street (at Barrie Street) on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday February 7, 2015 at 11am. Interment Cataraqui Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation &ndash; designated to Cardiac Research.</div>
