Larry “Wink” Wilson

Surrounded by his loving family, Wink’s spirit took flight to the higher heavens Tuesday, February 24, 2015. He will be dearly missed by his wife Jane, sons Jeff and Dan and grandson Jacob. He also leaves two sisters, Marilyn Cassidy and Shirley McCaugherty (Wayne) and their extended families. Other family members include sister-in-law Debbie (Tom) Stirton Massey and the entire Stirton clan. He will be fondly remembered by Jane’s brothers and their families. Predeceased by parents Helen and William Moore and Sharron and Linda Wilson.

Wink was a machinist by trade who started his career at Alcan. Over time, he took his teacher training to pass his trade on to others, first at the High School level and then as a faculty member of the Mechanical Technology Department at St. Lawrence College.

An avid sports fan, Wink was a diehard Leaf fan. He made lifelong friends playing endless rounds of golf at Glen Lawrence and Cataraqui. Many of those same friends curled or played hockey for the Portsmouth Oldtimers or the Rad Devils, waiting for the next golf season to begin.

One of Wink’s greatest gifts was his ability to make anyone he met laugh.

Many thanks to the kind and caring doctors, nurses and aids who helped along his journey.

A Celebration of Wink’s life will be held at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club at a later date that will be announced. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the UHKF-St. Mary’s Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
