<div itemprop="description">Whitehead, Frederick &quot;Fred&quot;, Retired Teacher, Limestone District School Board <br />At the Kingston General Hospital, on Friday, January 24, 2014, lovingly surrounded by family. Beloved husband and best friend of Gloria for 52 years. Loving father of Scott of West Bolton, Bob (Elizabeth) of Kingston, and Julie (Jim Spencer) of Port Hope. Cherished Papa of Alex, Johanna, Sophie and Caroline Whitehead and Emily and Rosie Spencer. Dear brother of Kim (Sharon) of Edmonton and Kathie of Montreal. Fondly remembered by sister in law Pat Gray, Brothers in law Dale (Avis), Ron (Betty), Darryl (Lorraine) and David (the late Laurie) Gray. Fred will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends. At 12 years of age, Fred was a scholarship student at the Quebec Provincial Conservatory of Music and was chosen as a member of the Montreal Junior Symphony French Horn Section for a tour of England, which included a concert for members of the Royal Family. He appeared on a B.B.C. Television Network and was part of filmmaking by the National Film Board of Canada. Fred studied in New York with the famous Berv Brothers as a guest of the Ford Foundation. Fred was widely recognized as a talented musician by audiences and music educators. <br /> A visitation will be held at the Robert J. Reid &amp; Sons Funeral Home, 309 Johnson Street, Kingston, Ontario, on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 2 - 4 &amp; 7 - 9 p.m. A celebration of Fred's life will be held later in the summer in Knowlton, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the UHKF Foundation, KGH Auxiliary Volunteer Services or the Kidd 2 ICU would be appreciated by the family. <br /> <br /> <br /></div>
