Passed away peacefully at Trillium Centre on Monday, January 18th, 2016 in his 88th year. He is survived by his wife Doris Laughton (née Aiken), of Kingston, his children Barbara and Roger of the United Kingdom, his grandchildren Thomas, Martin and Helena, and his step-son John A. Brebner of Ottawa.
Dr. Laughton taught Art History at Queen's University in Kingston from 1971 until his retirement in 2004. He was Head of the Queen’s Art Department from 1983 to 1988 and authored several scholarly works in his lifetime on British artists including William Coldstream, The Euston Road School and Philip Wilson Steer.
Cremation has taken place. A family gathering and interment of ashes will be held in the spring. Arrangements in care of the ROBERT J. REID & SONS FUNERAL HOME “The Chapel on the Corner” 309 Johnson Street, Kingston. As expressions of sympathy, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society in memory of Dr. Laughton.
